Governor Patrick Quinn has named Sylvia Puente, the executive director of the Latino Policy Forum, as chair of the Education Funding Advisory Board, the body responsible for making recommendations to the General Assembly about state funding for schools, including the minimum per-pupil funding the state should provide and extra state funding for poor districts. Quinn also named four new members to the board: Dean Clark, a Glen Ellyn School Board member and businessman; Arthur Culver, superintendent of the Champaign Unit 4 School District; Ken Swanson, president of the Illinois Education Association; and Ed Geppert, Jr., president of the Illinois Federation of Teachers.
