    * CPS School Directory The CPS School Directory lets you search for schools by name or ZIP code. The search can be narrowed by size, grades, type of school or specific part of city (ie. North Side, South Side, etc.).

    * CPS School Locator

    Find a CPS school within a 1.5 mile radius of a specified address, search by program, and access quick links to test scores and school websites. The GIS locator tool can also map out Chicago by attendance area, community or ward.

It includes programs, honors and extracurricular activities. Search the online version or download a PDF of the printed versions in English or Spanish.

    Achievement Academies

    Students who are 15 and above and have not completed 8th grade may attend an achievement academy, which operates as a school-within-a-school. The program takes students through the 8th-grade curriculum and prepares them to enter 9th grade by the end of the year. This CPS web page lists some of the achievement academies, with profiles and contact information.

    Small Schools

    This CPS web page is a gateway to policies, news and contact information about intentionally small learning communities within CPS. In 2005, they included 36 autonomous small schools and 54 small schools-within-schools, each with a thematic focus such as environmental studies, entrepreneurship and Socratic dialogue. Elementary schools aim to enroll no more than 350 students; high schools, 500.
