Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP) Training
The Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP) training is focused on providing up-to-date information about adolescent depression and bipolar disorder. The free, one-day training is delivered by Dr. Karen Swartz, Clinical Director, Johns Hopkins Medical University. CPDUs are available.
The training also prepares educators to use the ADAP curriculum with high school students. The curriculum consists of either two or three regular classroom sessions to raise awareness about depression and bipolar disorder in teenagers. The main features of the program explain:
(1) Common indicators of depression in adolescents
(2) Common indicators of bipolar disorder in adolescents
(3) Depression and bipolar disorder are treatable medical illnesses
(4) The need for timely evaluation and treatment
Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided
