Marshall High and other turnaround high schools, in Chicago and nationally, face a thorny dilemma. Higher-performing students are being siphoned off through competition, driving down enrollment and raising tough policy questions about the future of these schools.

Wednesday Morning News

My concern is that the cuts might wind up getting rid of some of the excellent people who do put children first and make sure the law is followed. I hope the gems aren't on the cut list.

There are lots of people at central office who work hard to make schools a better place. It's ignorant to act like just because someone is "downtown" that they are just expendable fat to be trimmed. I just have no idea who, what departments are cut. How come nobody seems to know?

Wednesday Morning News

Actually what they said was that there wouldn't be cuts in the classroom - i.e., no teachers were going in this round. What people tend to forget when they lambast central office staff and demand 'cutting the fat', is that many of those central office folks were providing services that schools/students/teachers truly value. A lot of people lost their jobs yesterday - so yes, you'll feel that in the schools.

but schools always have the PD days before the students arrive. So I am sorry you are gone, but it still has to be done and you know what most important PD MUST take place before the kiddies come to school--right? I bet Ronnie and his new brass have NO idea onthis....
AND all those new principals--such lost little lambs not far from the slaughter house...

Yes, BOSS, students return to school AUGUST 1.
SO who is on the field, my man?
Your 100 days are long over coach! Where is the program?
This ain't no CTA, this ain't no 911, this ain't no foolin' around. You ain't got time for that now.

Funny UC and the new teacher center wrote 2 years 31 weeks ago

Wednesday Morning News

"the Chicago New Teachers Center, which works with teachers in high-need Chicago public schools."
Conflict of interest here!
UC study says it is bad then UC gets big $ from CPS to fix it. Someone else should be doing the research OR the center. Conflict big time. No bid contracts too!
Arne is gone, time to drop UC and their corrupt ways.

12 Cut in Sports Admin? wrote 2 years 31 weeks ago

Wednesday Morning News

Just heard because our children's camp was just "put on hold" that 12 people in Sports Admin were let go today. The press release says the positions won't impact children. I'd like someone to tell that to the 20 kids standing in the rain waiting for their camp to start and now aren't sure it will!??!
