A couple of you emailed me with this news but I had to check it out with CPS first -- Dr. Janice Buckley, principal of Dewey Academy
of Fine Arts, 5415 S. collapsed and died yesterday during a school LSC meeting.
From CPS: "CPS Chief Executive
Officer Ron Huberman and the entire CPS administration expressed thoughts and
prayers for the family, students and faculty during this unexpected tragedy."
Funeral
arrangements are pending.

I'm sorry to hear about the principal's death and I'm sorry that Mr. Johnson and the LSC was mixed up in this, she was probably was sick for sometime and not aware of it and the stress pushed her over the edge. I don't think anyone is to blame and I commend Mr. Johnson for doing his duty, if she didn't know of her sickness how could He.

Dr. Buckley may you continue to rest in peace. I'm still sad that things were made so stressful for you and to you. Never will overlook the grounds of the demeaning things that were said and done to you. You bet; the stress made a great contribution to your death. Without a doubt. Your heart was a kind one; which made your school a pleasant atmosphere setting. Your students misses you too. It placed a lasting effect on their ending year. A Soldier was struck down. A Soldier you were; and your legacy will never be forgotten. You've gone ahead of the rest of us; but one day All of us will join you where you are. This I am certain of. No matter what the accomplishments we make; what we wear; drive; or own: NONE of it belongs to us. You are an example to show; how one minute you are here; the next minute each of us will not be. Time will pass. things will ALWAYS change. Your death did just that. Principal of Dewey Academy (2009-2013) you were. Another will carry on your legacy and be just as helpful and pleasant to the school. In a time of recession as now. Each of us; no matter what scenario of employment we are in; we are to be thankful that we are still blessed to even have a job. These are VERY hard times. So Dr. Buckley; rejoice. You don't have to worry about this scrambled fight anymore. Rest in Peace.

How can your school have so many teacher's Aides when other schools don't have Aides anymore. Now; you only find preschool classrooms with Teacher Aides. School save money because their schools can't afford to have Teachers Aides. Isn't Ms Murph Mr. Johnson's sister. I see that after all of this mess he has caused he is making sure his SISTER has a job. Now isn't that favoritism to the family? Didn't the Board cut the positions; and not the school. So he probaly had to really shuffle things around to make sure sister keeps HER job. I know all of this stuff has caused a lot of sleepless nights. I hope all of you have placed that train on the right track. It has been one sad adventure to watch. You school enviroment has always been a good one. The atmosphere was just serene and free floating. Now; that atmosphere there will never be the same. It's really sad. Children love their teachers;too. It makes and effect for children to see new faces. This is why the city is complaining about how the city is having a hard time with teacher turnaround. Can any of you who seemingly love the Children so much; solve the reason why children come to school and won't try to do their best in society now. That too, would help ANY school. In other words what I am saying is; people have enough headaches dealing with the children alone. Adults should stop placing undue pressure and walk a mile in their shoes. Stop the fighting and be more compassionate. Their jobs are just that. A job. Remember this is why people work. It's hard to love any job when you are getting flucks from here ;there and everywhere. Just leave your people alone and let them do like people at other schools. Let them do the best they can to try and push the FUTURE out there into the future. Work along in a positive way with your school. Stop the fighting with your school; and people at your school. This will make you a better person. Enough of the trashing your school. You need to stop before you won't even have a school to trash. After all; your Council is just a vessel to do some of the dirty work. Downtown Rules! They are Really the ones who calls the shots.
So don't over work yourselves and find out that they are going to do what they want to do down there anyway. Believe you me; bright ideas are brewing up as we speak; and neither you nor I have a hand in it. Bottom line. We are Just equal. Nothing more.

This post is for wonder. To my understanding, the proposal the council voted on June 24, was to keep Ms. Murph position in the budget. By doing that, it allows Ms. Murph to stay in the main building. Instead of bumping one of the Aids in the child parent center (CPC). Because if all three position are cut, they will bump from the CPC. When our so call budget team came up with this mess, someone should have pulled all the Aids in the principal office and explained this to them. Instead they tried business as usual. They call the three Aids with the most seniority in the office and told them they wouldn't be coming back. Hoping they would retire, or find another job. I know I said it a thousand times, THANK YOU MR. JOHNSON. Mr. Johnson had to call them on that to. So two months later the acting principal Mrs. Hasbrouck called the other Aids in her office to explain to them they may not be coming back next year. The only problem is , it was in the month of May when the other Aids got their call. That's just sad business.

I knew it was a matter of time before my Goofy blog friend say some more Goofy SHi???. First of all, if everything was done the way they should have been. Mr. Johnson wouldn't have had to play top cop. What enviroment Mr. Johnson torn up, the one that had a teacher with only a type 9 certification as the school counselor for the pass 8 years. Was it because she was on the LSC. We have young teachers that went to school, got the wright certification (type 73), but can't find a job that will help our children. All because the Goofy that post before me said it was all about Deweys past enviroment. The same enviroment that allowed the Goofy that posted the blog before this one, to spend $200,000 on her self/LLT and her friend. While the school attempts to cut a teacher and three aids for those two individuals. Thanks to Mr. Johnson, the school bought A teacher, an Aid, A reading program with materials, staff development, and have 30,000 left to spend. You try so hard to clean up your racial statement before you post. I just want you to know that we know all about you. Please try some other strategy, the teachers, the parents and the community support Mr. Johnson, so trying to paint him as bad cop is not going to get it li-barbe. If your Lazy A?? would come to some of the meetings, you would see the support. Think about it, at the last meeting, the acting principal or the council didn't even vote on the principal proposal. They only voted on two proposals that Mr. Johnson presented, one of the two passed with all yes votes and one abstain vote. That one abstain vote was Mr. Johnson, his sister work at the school so he couldn't vote yes like every one else. Stop trying to give all the credict for Mr. Johnson hard work and training to someone other then Mr. Johnson. Just think a little bit Goofy, if the evil, sadistic Rosetta Burton was leading Mr. Johnson, don't you think they would have came after your LAZY A?? first. Goofy Rosetta hasn't been to any LSC trainings. There's know way possible for Mr. Johnson to be lead by someone who has know training at all. Everything Mr. Johnson talks about to the board president is you goofies braking rules that hurts teachers, parent, the community, and most important the children. How in the hell could someone with know training on the laws that Mr. Johnson is talking about lead Mr. Johnson. It seems like someone is leading your goofy A??. And if the council is ran the wright way all stakeholders would be involved in the growth of our school. It's people like you, some AIOs, and some principal that run thier council. That way you can cut hard working teachers, Aids, and clerks that are being paid out of state chapter 1 and NCLB fund. All you need is the chair to sign and someone is cut. And your favorite answer to the individuals thats being cut is, baby the board cut your position, BULL SHI???. Thank god for Mr. Johnson. Did it ever hit your goofy butt in the head why Mr. Johnson is coming at you all so hard. Let me explain some of it, you were in the meeting in the library in November, 2008 when Mr. Johnson stated Dr. Buckley called him over the summer to come sign a ammendment, because the BOARD IS CUTING Ms. Fields position. All of it was Bull Shi???. Then you try the same mess with his sister, I guess you really F-up this time. Mr. Johnson also fund out the budget/cut team was lazy people in position they didn't qualify to be in counselor, LLT and case manager. So Mr. Johnson promise this will never happen again at Dewey. I know a lot of schools that wouldn't mine having Mr. Johnson at their school working with their staff and council. Then a lot of unnecessary cuts wouldn't take place. LLT, did you go back to school to get the necessary certification to be a LLT (TYPE 10). I think Mr. Johnson talked about you to, a TYPE 3 & a Reading endorsement k-4 was not enough to be the LLT for 14 yrs. Every body wonder why the school was put on probation, and she said a wonderful enviroment. I guess it was wonderful for those that are angry at Mr. Johnson for make them work after 10+ yrs of do nothing. Good luck this was just the begining of his work to save Dewey.

X-Factor; I don't why you place that Mr. in front of Johnson. Anyone can buy a suit and wear it. But he will still be the same person underneath. It's not that he's inhuman. It just that some of the stuff being done hasn't been done before. And seems like since he works for the sheriff department he thinks this makes him top cop. This is not a sheriff department; this is a school. He acts like he's Dr. King or somebody. I know one thing;he has torn up an emotional, wonderful environment by being led by evil, sadistic Rosetta Burton leading him. SHE should have never been let inside the door. Nothing but a troublemaker. Want to see people squirm. She hasn't shown anybody anything. Because when you do wrong to people; wrong Is going to come back to you. Hopefully, Bosses sent out to schools aren't monsters. Hopefully they won't let You Council twist their arms in the wrong direction and there won't be a Council. They Also needs to do away with the Local School Councils and NCLB. Now here is where they could save money also. They are ONLY using you as shams; have you all thinking you're really doing something. Like YOU have some kind of special power. Don't you understand. In the long run they are going to zap you all out too. Do they care? They're only USING you as a SMALL go between to do their dirty work. But THEY are the ones with the power. NOT YOU!! Your school is the ONLY Council that's so hung up on authority with yourselves. You're no biggie.ALL schools have one. But I guess there is not much going on in the Connunity but a lot of crime; that most of you need this to make you stand out amongst your other community members. You need to travel the city. Again; You're Just a Local School Council and NCLB. Not anything more. People that have to work and pay their bills like EVERYBODY ELSE. On top of that; in the midst of jobs and the economy messing up; you only messed up a lot of people's livelihood. It's Really sad. One thing about it. People who have been effected will always have to pray for the mess you've made; and try to move on to a more peaceful; and more fruitful life. IF This Local School Council would have been a different set of people who thought in a compassionate manner; they would have been able to do what a Council is suppose to do; and work with your school. But you just didn't know how. I can all but grant you. ONE DAY ; Local School Councils won't exist anymore. Then you will be able to come back down to earth. Whatever they have wanted; that's what they've gotten. the Principals let the both of them have their ways. Friends! Friends!. And they didn't even have to let them twist their arms. You've really made a mistake on this one. You think either of them care? One just knows how to play it a little bit better than the other. They come in the hood; make the money; and Rush out the hood. Simply put as that. And that's That! So you really make yourself look bad feigning for kindness here. Because it's just an act! Always has been. And always will be. Nothing more. Goofy!!! Ha! Ha! All of you are going to have to do your best. Because the school system is getting worse. The higher students aspire; the higher they keep raising the bar. Now does that make sense? Just setting schools up to fail ; so they can turn them into Charter Schools. So silly. It's not your schools and staff. It's the children. Raising themselves and being raised by video games and technology. A lot of one parent homes. Some children not having a home at all. Dads in jail. The children are suffering Before they come to school. Their scores Won't rise until they are comfortable. And the Board always brings someone else in with more bright ideas; but the children are the instruments. And they are stuck. They can only go as far as their genes can take them. A lot of them don't even have the background. A Lot of teachers throw their backs into it. But it is a Hard struggle.
The teachers need help and caring from home. The Only love some children get is from school. Stop fighting amongst yourselves and try to get ready for this next task that's being prepared to blame teachers from not making All children perfect learners. The big chiefs know this can't be done. That's why they are big chiefs. Do you think they want to deal with it? The children are Slick. A lot of them know how to use strategy; and won't realize they are hurting themselves until they Have to realize it. Meanwhile they are making it hard for Instructors who are being held accountable for their learning. You tell me. How can you successfully teacher children who act terrible at school and at home. Why do you read about all this crime from grownups. Those grownups use to be those children in schools who caused all the problems and Never tried to learn. And the worst thing about it now is; they are letting Behavior problem children stay in a regular classroom; and expect the poor teachers to fix it. They know it can't be done. Then a school's test scores go down; because all your time is spent keeping children from hurting one another. It's a really sad setup. Especially in the inner city. That's what makes it urban. Just look at the grown ups out their viciously committing crimes. And for students who decide to do it their ways; that's all you are going to turn out from the schools. You know that; I know that; they know that. Just a sad losing battle. Blaming yourselves at your school and saying who is better are only words. IF Any teacher teaches a tough bunch of children; they will have a tough time. If you are in a vat with babies you are safe. But jump in a vat of rattlesnakes and look at the difference. Reality. Now those are the kind of things that make some teachers so perfect. And again. How many teachers has a personalized teacher's aide as Mrs. Cullen has had when all the other teachers at your school didn't have one??? I wonder why??? Sort of strange isn't it. After all 4 hands and 2 heads are better than 2 hands and 1 head!!!

X factor; I suppose Mrs Cullen could do so much work. After all she was the Only person who had a full time teacher's aide; Mrs. Cameron sitting and nodding all day in her classroom. Why was she the only one with her personalized teacher's aide? It must have been wonderful when all the other teachers at your school had to struggle. You mean nearly every family deserves a check or some sort? Mr. Johnson should be encouraging parents to do more with their own children to get Them on board school. Not show them a means of getting a check because Little Johnny won't sit down or do his school work; or won't get his homework in. It's really sad. The neighborhood is drug and gang infested. The children are living in this environment;this is their life. People at school can't fix all those problems. Parent's have to show an example to their own children. All of you know this. Will Mr. Johnson continue to not work? Continue to keep mess up at school. He has an idle mind. After all; and idle mind is a Devil's Workshop. What a Big Mess! Schools should be smooth; not a war. Wisdom is the answer. It always has been; and always Will be. Youth hops around like bunnies(or you know the old saying). I think that all of this is totally ridiculous, I thought that everybody was hear to help the children, poor children who is really looking out for them while everyone is bickering and posting these foolish blogs. I think that Dewey needs a fresh start because it is too much foolishness going on around there these days. Seems like America's Choice is sucking up all the money; causing a lot of problems; and Really is not solving the problem. If something is Just not working; let it go. Children have Always learned to read with Phonics. It doesn't take a million dollar program to teach a child how to read. America's Choice takes up too much time preparing things for show; that you are penalized for not showing if you don't go out and buy yourself. Teachers need to have time to teacher their children. They teach children how to read by Phonics. When they know How to read; then they Can read! America's Choice is not a one size fit all. HHHOOOTTT news, Mr. Johnson just found out some info from his female ace. They researched information on the cycle chairs and grade level chairs. The union stated that those positions should have been voted on as well. Seems like same old bull at Dewey, so you know Mr. Johnson is calling all of the Teachers that he has numbers. That is to makes sure his presentation on thursday is facts and not false. The only difference in thursday meeting is he will have a lot of his people there to help the public understand that the school is breaking laws that is hurting staff and the children. All I have to say is give the young man a chance to help do what is rite. I know for a fact he has been trying for some time now. I know his A?? get loud at times, but that don't erase the fact that he know what he is talking about. Now that I got a copy of what he (Mr. Johnson) was talking about with the State LRE report and the miss managment of funds report from the state I realized things have been going wrong in our school for so long. And some of the new rules didn't effect the wrong doing on our administration part. It hurts me the most when the state explain what to do with this money and they do what they want to . I believe we can move forward, but not if Mrs. Hasbrouck is still listening to false information. It's ok to listen, but to act on it is another thing. The acting principal called a meeting with cycle chair hoping to get them to promote America's Choice. Then in the staff meeting she gives just three pages of the LRE report and tell them it was to many pages. These are some of the sneaky things that makes someone like Mr. Johnson angry when he feels that we all should be working together. He stated he would work with them if they stop the mess. If the LRE report was to much to copy, it should have been one or to copies in the office for parents, staff, and community to view. So when he start sending letters back down town next week don't be mad at him, talk to the principal. From what I heard he's putting a letter together over the weekend to go to Michael Scott on monday morning. And he is putting a special package together for the meeting on thursday. Human resoures will be there in regards to the cuts that was not by seniority. I hope Mrs. Hasbrouck get it together by thursday because it may be over two hundred people out side of the community people that mr. johnson invited.

X Factor; problems were solved when the Principalship died. Things can not be undone which are already done. All schools and people and schools make mistakes. Sometimes things are not always understood how to have been done. But you learn from your mistakes. It takes time to correct problems. Rules of education change so fast; and then sometimes those changes do not align with the changing sosciety or the knowledge required for children to portray. Sometimes its just hard to keep up. It takes time. All of us have the love of the children at heart; but there are so many cities and so many problems that children are facing today; and then laws expect you to fix the problem and don't give you the money to fix the problems; so schools have to run around like chickens with their heads cut off to try give services to children that have problems. Problems that stem from abroad. Problems that are brought to school. Supplies cut. Then money for this; have to be used for that; and vice versus. It's a big mess. You know this too. Now fighting amongst ourselves does not solve the problems. Problems will always be. This is just how life is. It's sad. XFactor; we should pray to start a fruitful year at your school; that the children put more in to help themselves; and parents help them more at home so they don't have to be labeled. Because special services will effect them in a long run; because as someone grows up; they don't want to be labeled as having a problem. Getting a check for having a problem is not just some type of fad. I wish all children were perfect; but that is not the case. All grown ups are not perfect, either.
