At the new Kennedy King College Theater, the dramatic murder/mystery stage play "Washington Heights" will premiere, speaking to mature audiences about HIV awareness which will streamline prevention. There are also strong messages encouraging single fathers and those who considering marriage to be aware.

The Southeast Training Center in Association with T.W.T. Inc. is presenting "A Drummer's Story." This dual expression of live music mixed with theatrical performances tells the story of an exceptional young drummer from one of Chicago's toughest Englewood neighborhoods attesting to the fact that more than just violence and negativity is produced in our communities.
Performances by Kenari Allison and a parade of accomplished artists and young stars: Diane Ellis, Rick Allison, Mr. Lee, Maggie Brown, Tony Smith, Morris Ellis. Dixon School Marching Band and Choir, Zaji Nixon, Kei, Sparkle, Yung Star, Greg Steward, Jr., Troy, Isaiah & Emmanuel Blakey.

Some proceeds will assist The Southeast Training Center whose mission is “to commit to the advocacy and the empowerment of both our youths and our communities and also to the redevelopment of deteriorated buildings in the communities in addition to creating trade skills and administrative positions helping to strengthen our communities.”

Join Facing History and Ourselves for a five-day seminar on the Holocaust and Human Behavior. Together we will explore the range of choices leading up to World War II and examine how hatred, indifference, and denial – as well as caring, compassion, and responsibility – shape communities past and present. Educators will explore the complexities of human behavior, as well as how communities and families can reckon with mass violence and trauma, and strive to build more just, stable communities. Participants will receive a free copy of Facing History and Ourselves: Holocaust and Human Behavior. Lane Credit is available through CPS University and graduate credit through Aurora University. Scholarships are available for Chicago Public Schools teachers.
