After School Matters® Now Accepting Applications from Chicago Teenagers for Spring 2012 After-School Programs
WHAT
After school, between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m., learn how to design fashion-forward hats, coach football and basketball, write music and lyrics using a professional recording studio and more. There are thousands of opportunities to get involved with After School Matters this spring. There is no cost to participate. Sign up today!

At 45 Chicago Public School high schools and more than 50 community organizations across the city, as well as downtown at Gallery 37 Center for the Arts

Chicago teen residents who are at least 14 years of age and currently enrolled in a Chicago Public Schools high school

312.742.6317 Chicago Foundation for Education's 2012 Study Group Coach Grant
The CFE Study Group Program provides grants of up to $1,100 and 28 CPDUs to PreK-8th Grade CPS (includes: neighborhood, charter, contract, magnet) teachers. This year, more than thirty awards will be granted to educators who demonstrate the creativity, leadership potential, and professionalism necessary to organize and facilitate Study Groups of 6-8 teachers. Each group will focus on a particular Teaching Method that the Coach has successfully implemented with a targeted student population. Study Group Coaches will be supported with two after-school training sessions prior to meeting with their teams. Please note that explicit professional and/or curricular leadership experience is welcome, but NOT required.
All Coaches will lead a total of 12 hours of professional development sessions with their Study Group Team Members (CPS educators who will apply for and be admitted into the program in May) between June and December 2012.

The Great Books Foundation 100-Level Course: Getting Started
This course prepares you to begin using the Great Books Foundation's Shared Inquiry™ method of learning through reading and discussion with students at all levels. Learn questioning strategies that keep discussions lively and focused and improve students' reading, critical-thinking, writing, and oral communication skills.
