After School Matters Accepting Applications from Chicago Teenagers for Summer 2012 Programs
WHAT
This summer, learn how to design fashion-forward hats, coach sports, write music using a professional recording studio, use high-tech lab equipment and more. There are thousands of opportunities to get involved with After School Matters this summer. There is no cost to participate, and teens will be eligible to receive an award for program completion. Apply starting in mid-April!

At community organizations, parks, libraries and Chicago Public Schools across the city, as well as downtown at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts
WHO
Chicago teen residents who are at least 14 years of age and currently enrolled in a Chicago Public Schools high school
WHY
After School Matters provides program opportunities in a safe and structured environment that allow Chicago teens to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond… and, it’s fun!

After School Matters ISBE seeking high school students to serve on student advisory council
The Illinois State Board of Education is now taking applications from eligible high school students interesting in serving o the state agency's 15-member Student Advisory Council for the 2012-13 school year. Members represent student concerns and can provide thoughts on ISBE's existing and proposed programs, policies and regulations. Members also choose a special project to research and present to the board at the end of the school year. The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m., Thursday , May 31, 2012. Interviews will be scheduled in July for those applicants chosen as possible members.

Join Redmoon and over 650 of Chicago's youth in an interactive sensory exploration of the countless instances of human to human commitment. Students from all over Chicago have made spectacular art celebrating these commitments, big and small, that make up their lives. Three performance times: 6:15 pm, 7:15 pm and 8:15 pm.
