Roosevelt University Matthew Freeman Lecture

Join us to hear Victor Rios discuss his book, " Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys." Rios, an associate professor of sociology at UC Santa Barbara, conducts research on juvenile justice, youth resilience and educational equity. He combines his research insight with his personal experience of growing up in poverty, gangs, and being incarcerated as a juvenile to develop theories and policy and program solutions to the marginality that urban youths face. His book analyzes how juvenile crime policies and criminalization affect the everyday lives of urban male youth. Registration is required.
