Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 12:28 PMBy: Craven Sun-Times editorial Friday Morning News Please excuse me if I become ill, because the Chicago Sun-Times craving editorial posted today ends with praising Mayor Daley on his anti-violence quasi secret meeting saying “And as Daley pushes forward, we’ll have his back.” Am I mistaken, but did not the Sun-Times yesterday just run an investigative piece on the Mayor’s son’s former sewer inspection company and how it closed its doors because of an FBI probe? The article clearly insinuated that Patrick Daley may have enlisted in the Army to avoid the problems his own greed may have caused, greed that was able to be satisfied because he was after all a Daley.

Everyone is jumping around saying something has to be done about violence, lets bring in the SWAT teams, yes that is a good idea. Lets call up Father Pfleger and trot him around along with a phalanx of well fed Baptist ministers, lets get the new police Superintendent on TV, lets get Daley blowing air for the media, and why not through in Duncan wearing his poorly tailored suit too. (Rufus really does have to give this guy his tailor, I mean really.) Possibly the Mayor can find a Buddhist monk to add to his peace campaign, preferably one wearing a colorful outfit for the media.

If we read the editorial we see that the Sun-Times has added the murder of five people on South Rhodes to the supposed crime wave. The television based media has interviewed people in the Chatham neighborhood where the killing too place, they all call Don P Richardson and his cousin both killed “party promoters.” Another male killed was supposedly a “bank computer analyst.” Apparently, the promotions worked well because they sort of lived the high life, you know. Like having a Mercedes Benz in front and more cars stashed, and wearing very pimped out clothes. One of the women killed was a stripper who was reported to make “up to $2,000 on some nights.” The other female killed was Lakesha Doss, apparently a 17 year old drop out, or is she still on the high school books, who also worked at a strip club in Harvey called “Arnie’s Idle Hour Cocktail Lounge.”

Now as we know Harvey is one of the most corrupt south suburbs, Albert Tocco a Chicago outfit leader once oversaw some of the prostitution business in that area. The club these people were associated with is owned by Fern Arnold who has been around the block more than a few times. There is massive circumstantial evidence that the murder of the five on South Rhodes was a hit for failure to pay who ever Don P was supposed to be paying to run his girls in Harvey.

All of this takes us back to Daley, Duncan, and the Sun-Times. We have entered the world of the absurd, where dead pimps running 17 year olds who maybe did not pay their street taxes, are now victims. We have a corrupt Mayor whose former chief of staff entered prison for five years only Monday morning and who has a son hiding in the Army who the FBI apparent would like have a discussion with. We have over the weekend this Mayor screaming at his deputy chief of staff to fix the murder problem, and for once gets talked back to by somebody who really knows how full of it Daley is. Yet, this is the man who the Sun-Times editorial board believes will lead us all to the land of peace and end the killing. Yea, the Sun-Times has Daley’s back, but a better way to put it might be that they have his behind and they are kissing it.
Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 10:33 PMBy: Ann Onymous Friday Morning News I'm so tired of the media referring to the 34 children killed in gun violence this year primarily as Chicago Public School students. The implication is that the schools are somehow more responsible than the rest of society for failing these children in the ultimate way. No one seems to mention that these children also had poverty as a commonality, but God forbid that we should raise taxes to provide health care, or affordable housing opportunites for their families. I agree with the previous posting that our local papers will point the finger at our current mayor once in awhile, but not too often, lest they fall too far back for butt-kissing.
Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 11:19 PMBy: To craven Friday Morning News I enjoyed your post and "it's right on." To Ann the city of Chicago is only failing the broen and black children, not the white children. CPS continues to have better opportunities for magnest/selective enrollments on the Northside and forget about the South and West sides because they don't care. Yes, we have some excellent schools but the number is very limted and I worry about the children in the neighborhoods that CPS forgets about!
