"Stand Up, Englewood," Says Former Simeon Sports Star According to Will Okun, former Simeon basketball star Derrick Rose gave a shout out to his old neighborhood last week during a nationally televised interview:

"Stand up, Englewood," he said -- apparently in reference to the shooting death of a high school friend earlier in the week.  [It may have been Chavez Clark.]

Most of Will's post is about whether to pass or fail high school students who lack skills, and how to give struggling students more individualized attention.  Scroll to the bottom to see the reference to student violence.
