Double talking fake lying BoE.
Imagine this:
Staff member is called to break up a situation with a unruly student.
Student gets combative.
Student is warned to comply with school rules and behavior.
Student attacks staff member.
Student gets bloody.
Student goes to jail.
Student pleads guilty.
Staff member goes to BoE hearing regarding incident.
BoE hearing goes well?
Staff member gets termination letter.
YES. You do your job and you get FIRED.
Imagine the fake lying board of ed talking about how they combat violence and gangs in the schools one day. Then when push comes to shove the BoE terminates someone for trying to stop the violence in our schools.
This is not a made up story it is really happening! RIGHT NOW!
Oh you say there must be more to the story or some other circumstances.
YES there is: A Corrupt conspiracy to terrorize our staff and young people in our public schools to then justify school closings to privatize public entities for profiteering.
CONSPIRACY TO TERRORIZE!
Now this is just hypothetical:
If I were a lawyer, who I am not, I would probably try to figure out who really made the decision to terminate and then look for connects to the student that was arrested.
All the while pulling out every policy statement, press release and media appearance advocating for more work towards combating violence in CPS.
Then I would get out my pencil and paper and do the math:
Insider giving termination advice +
Acting against one's own stated policy +
Termination =
BIG SETTLEMENT $$$$$$$$$$$$
Imagine this:

I am not running for the LSC. Its a waste of time. Your voice is not heard from CPS. CPS does not care about Parent Involvement. That is why CPS appointed a Parent Board without Parents voting them on. You speak your mind, then you are investigated by the CPS Inspector General. Who in the right mind would want to endure stress for accusations not true. Look what happened to the Curie LSC Chair, when CPS came after him even after he changed his vote on a principal contract. Parents, don't run, its not worth it. Just take care of your own child.

Yea, somtimes I feel just like you! I don't think the LSCs are all it's cracked up to be. I have served for three years at my oldest's school. I have two children in different schools and I'm going to run for both. Noone really ever shows up and are probably at home working on homeowrk with their children. Then, I wonder should I just do the same. I ran because both schools didn't have enough parent reps running.

Given the viciousness of the attacks on LSCs over the past four or five years (part of Renaissance 2010 and the Duncan agenda), it's amazing to me how many people are still willing to serve, not how few. The fact that Copernicus, Fulton, Morton, Howe, Harper and the Orrs still have people fighting back after that lying attack on everyone in them (approved for "Turnaround" at the February 27 Board meeting) is enough to restore even a cynic's faith in democracy.
Fact, is, despite all of the behind the scenes and out front attacks -- including Page One of the Sun-Times -- against local school councils, it's still the only democracy game in town.
After watching the "Chicago Board of Education" (seven hacks appointed by Mayor Daley and always voting unanimously and without debate, while keeping their "executive session" proceedings secret for the past 13 years) in action, I can't believe people really want tyranny. And the willingness of people to stand up and do the work of LSCs gives me the faith to keep going, too.
On a footnote to local corruption. Michael Scott and Greg Minnifield are now working together as "developers" out on the West Side. Daley rewards subservience. Michael is now a millionaire for his dedicated servitude, from the Park District to the Chicago Board of Education. This is the promise in Rufus Williams's future, and he knows it.

Yes, you are right, Rufus will be taken care of next and the U.S. Attorney cannot do anything about it.
Arne Duncan will be the next Secretary of Education in D.C. under the new Obama administration or a major role at the U.S. Department of Education and that will be the end to Title I, Part A, Parental Involvement, especially for Chicago Parents. This will be Daley's wish and he will get what he wants from Obama.
