Improving The Brand Of The Best Urban District In The US Thanks to a reader for sending this in: "The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has initiated a project to re-design the CPS main web site. This project will require a tremendous amount of work in a relatively short period of time. We are targeting the debut of the new web site in Mid-July focused on enhancing the brand and the web presence of CPS. The primary content focus will be to provide information about the schools, programs and services.

"The new CPS web site will be designed to meet the important activities and core interactions with the primary user group - parents. We would appreciate your perspective on how we can improve the web site. We are conducting a limited-time online survey to gather feedback from site visitors. It only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. If you are interested (or know someone who may be interested) in participating in this survey, please visit:  http://www.cps.k12.il.us/survey.htm

"Over the new few months, we will continue to provide updates on the progress of this project and more importantly, the new messaging standards and processes that will accompany such a tremendous initiative. We are very excited for this project to help the District further establish itself as the premier urban school district in the United States."

Reminds me of Bush in a flight suit on the deck of a big boat not long ago.

What about the fact that no evidence anywhere suggests that Chicago is at or near the top? Come on CPS leaders! Show us the data, and you won't have so many of us giggling. Saying it don't make it so.

I think they make them link everything they do, including go to the bathroom, to this 'outcome'.

Going the bathroom might be the only one that gets them closer to the goal.

Talk about needing to get some people off the bus.

Schmidt Improving The Brand Of The Best Urban District In The US The other part of the mantra they are required to chant is the part about how terrible things were before Richard M. Daley took over the school system in 1995 and saved it. From African Americans? Arne Duncan is the second school system "Chief" to be puffed out from nowhere (and with no credentials) to be Chicago's Great White Hope. Only in a town that's decimated its media and given millions of dollars each year to pivel and puffery at the highest levels could this kind of stuff be foisted.
