Announcement: Big Job - New Organization The attached nine-page PDF is as much an organizational statement as it is a job announcement.  The new Gates- and Joyce-funded organization is going to be called Advance Illinois, and they're looking for a founding executive director.  Could it be you, or someone you know?  Read on.

From what I can tell, the idea is to create a new state-level policy and advocacy shop to push key education reform issues in Springfield and elsewhere in the state.   The board hasn't been named, though some folks from the steering committee will likely join and that process is already underway.  I can imagine at least some experienced candidates will want to know the board or have some influence over its composition before considering the job.

Will a big new advocacy effort make things better for Illinois?  Could be -- it's helped in other states.  What this means for A+ Illinois and other similar organizations, I have no idea. The search for the Chicago-based job is being done by Isaacson, Miller (www.imsearch.com), Interested individuals should send curriculum vitae with cover letter to, or contact: Michelle Cruz-Williams Vice President & Director Isaacson, Miller Inc. 334 Boylston Street, Suite 500 Boston, MA 02116 Tel. 617.262.6500 E-mail: 3575@imsearch.com .
