The ReTURN Of Progressive Unionism Union watchers among you will be interested to know that the NEA and AFT, among others, have combined to set up the Mooney Institute in Washington DC.  It's a follow-on to TURN, the Teacher Union Reform Network that was started in 1995.  I think Debbie Lynch was a member of that.  Jo Anderson from IEA is involved.  Read here if you want to know more. Or, if you want some background on the looming fights over th direction of the nationals, read this (At Vital Time, Unions Elect Presidents).  Does it make much real difference who heads the national?  Do you think that local presidents should be involved in "progressive" issues, or stick to jobs and wages?

Where is our contract book?
Where is the PEP and ERO information?
Why isn't the union disseminating information about the residency bill's new sponsor?

Who wants to pay seventy dollars a month to watch the union self-destruct. Marilyn Stewart was voted in legally why should she fight members to make meaningful progress? I'm sure all teachers have empathy for Mrs. Stewart, it's very similar to having a class with lots of disruptive students. The fighting is a disservice to all the members. I believe that union delegates should not serve the membership, where they are employed, and a principal should not be allowed to call a meeting when the representative is holding a get acquainted meeting in the school. The union is being disrespected, and people are being shown they have a choice between employment or the union. United we Stand!

I realize that some people are hesitant to post on this site for fear that some anonymous responder might slur the effort. I would like to apologize in advance. That being said, at your convenience, would you rewrite your statements? I believe that you may have some solid points but it’s difficult to evaluate what you’re trying to say. What are you trying to say?
