Apparently a group of folks in New York City were able to stave off what is threatening to happen in across from Latin School in Lincoln Park.

I'm sorry, I must be in the minority, but I really don't see what the big deal is here. The CPD does not have the funds to renovate the park for the new field. Latin has no outdoor space. As I understand it, Latin's exclusivity is not in perpetuity but rather for a period of 10? years or so.
This sounds like just the thing I would normally be appalled about, and yet I'm not.
If the land were already in high demand (it's not, right? it's just an empty field that gets no organized use now, right?) ... then I could see the outrage. But I really just don't get it. Maybe instead of exclusive use, they could get first pick, but still allow it to be used potentially by other groups.
