Chicago Police think the shooter is associated with a street gang but said that Roky, a sophomore at Kelly High School who had no criminal record, was not in a gang and was not wearing gang colors.

Options range from day-long workshops for teachers at the museum aimed at giving in-depth training on topics including “The Science of Creatures Gross and Disgusting” and “Cultural Uses of Plants,” to programs that bring museum educators into the classrooms to work alongside teachers, providing opportunities for hands-on science.
Since its establishment in 2001, NLNS has placed nearly 100 principals in Chicago's public schools.

Javier Arriola-Lopez, the school's principal, was Carson's literacy lead teacher when the initiative began in 2002. Now, his faculty is being looked at to mentor other city schools. In the last six years, Carson's literacy rate has risen 25 percent, to 73 percent.
