Washburne Tear-Down Thanks to a tipster for calling in the news that the Washburne building in Little Village is apparently -- finally -- being torn down after years of disrepair and abandonment. Here are some pics from someone who walked around inside the building not too long ago. Anyone know what the plan is for the land, or when this got approved?

Please dont built a school their. Get rid of the illegal conversions then you won't need to waste our tax dollars for a school.

Public land being misused and will eventually fall into private ownership.

Sound familiar. The story is replaying itself all over the city and guess what happens the fairly tale ends up with some nice condos or town homes in the place where the public had owned the land. Wonder what happened to the big bad wolf. No do not get fooled the developers are not the the good guys will not loose this battle. Sustainability needs to come from empowerment and equality. Theft and graft only lead to misery. The only problem that we will face is how to stop the people when they see they can take back what was stolen from them. Then there will be no stopping what happens next. Just read history and see what happens to people who steal from the masses.
