What Other Folks Have To Say
There are a few other blogs and sites that track education issues -- some new, some old, some regular, some occasional.  Here's a roundup of some of them that seem interesting or timely:

Civic Committee stabs Duncan in the back Mike Klonsky
He toiled faithfully on their plantation for 10 years before going to D.C. to serve as Obama's education chief.

Chicago Teachers - Can you say "burnout?" Gerrard McLendon
There were times within a school year when I felt overwhelmed, insecure, overworked, and frustrated, but thank God for fall break, report card break, in-service meetings, winter, spring, and summer breaks.

CPS Positions - Out with the old, in with the new -- maybe you? CPS Obsessed
I actually have no idea how many areas there are, I just know that I live in Area 2.

Block Party Fever Begins to Rise Marshfield Tattler
Last night Peter Pan told me his mom wanted to know if we could do the block party on July 4. Good Lord--that's like next week!

First major event for Chicago Parents Union! PURE
Our first event is a two-day training session for CPU union stewards, and we would love to see you there!

Umoja University Trains School Leaders as Community Change Agents Community Beat
In the last few years, Umoja has been expanding its efforts beyond Manley, to south and southwest side schools like Gage Park, Carver, Dyett and ACE Tech Charter.

What are the other sites I should be highlighting? What do you think about these issues?

Oh yes they do and that is what this is about. Daley has NO problem sacrificing Arne--that is why he got him out of town. Now Daley has another reason to open more charters!
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 6:07 PMBy: CTU on Vacation What Other Folks Have To Say everyone knows that while 100's of teachers are loosing their jobs and retirees can not get their proper pensions, the Union president is on a junket in South Africa will dr connie. All paid for by the AFT(CTU really).

call ctu and ask where is your union president.

Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 7:32 PMBy: civic committee study What Other Folks Have To Say why then if charters are supposed to be better and 'create' competition, why don't they do it with less money? Charters get the same amount per students as in CPS traditional and many still fail. What is heard most from charter directors is that they do NOT get enough $$ from CPS and have to do with so little. yet, the director of UNO gives himself over $150,000 per year. Wake up civic committee!
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 8:10 PMBy: civic com study is not all that What Other Folks Have To Say it is not a bad study and not a real good one eother--I read it and they do exaggerate MUCH on the HS charter side--those PSAE scores and college readiness for charters were not really good, some were poor! AS compared to the traditional high school! Yes. So now take the charter HSs and place them agains magnet or selective enrollement, which would br kinda fair since they select their students and you know what, the CHARTER perform horribly. This is what happend whrn you have a business guy like Eden Martin trying to support his own PONZIE scheme. I hope WE are wise to this!
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 8:36 PMBy: CPS during wartime What Other Folks Have To Say Well Ronnie, welcome to CPS------ IN JUST A FEW WEEKS (Yes, VERY SOON) teachers will be back to school for the PD days at ALL the increased 'year-round' schools.
Yes, BOSS, students return to school AUGUST 1.
SO who is on the field, my man?
Your 100 days are long over coach! Where is the program?
This ain't no CTA, this ain't no 911, this ain't no foolin' around. You ain't got time for that now.

The question would also be, why was he given a loan to run the office--which is now defaulted and will cost us all, and what if anything does Flowers have to do with Stroger?
