Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 2:19 PMBy: 12 Cut in Sports Admin? Wednesday Morning News Just heard because our children's camp was just "put on hold" that 12 people in Sports Admin were let go today. The press release says the positions won't impact children. I'd like someone to tell that to the 20 kids standing in the rain waiting for their camp to start and now aren't sure it will!??!
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 5:41 PMBy: Funny UC and the new teacher center Wednesday Morning News "the Chicago New Teachers Center, which works with teachers in high-need Chicago public schools."
Conflict of interest here!
UC study says it is bad then UC gets big $ from CPS to fix it. Someone else should be doing the research OR the center. Conflict big time. No bid contracts too!
Arne is gone, time to drop UC and their corrupt ways.
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 5:46 PMBy: cuts--yes but... Wednesday Morning News ?layoffs are the latest step in a larger reorganization under way by Huberman, ... shuffled top-level managers last month."
Yes, but he paid his top brass THE SAME SALARY that the former brass was making after being there for many years! These youngin' got BIG raises $$ while others are on furlough or losing thier jobs. HIS TOP BRASS SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE A CUT IN PAY!!!

Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 9:01 PMBy: duh . PD? I dont work there anymore
Wed Jul 1, 2009 at 9:09 PMBy: sorry duh--forgive them Wednesday Morning News but schools always have the PD days before the students arrive. So I am sorry you are gone, but it still has to be done and you know what most important PD MUST take place before the kiddies come to school--right? I bet Ronnie and his new brass have NO idea onthis....
AND all those new principals--such lost little lambs not far from the slaughter house...
Thu Jul 2, 2009 at 9:26 AMBy: yellowdart Wednesday Morning News Actually what they said was that there wouldn't be cuts in the classroom - i.e., no teachers were going in this round. What people tend to forget when they lambast central office staff and demand 'cutting the fat', is that many of those central office folks were providing services that schools/students/teachers truly value. A lot of people lost their jobs yesterday - so yes, you'll feel that in the schools.
Thu Jul 2, 2009 at 9:58 AMBy: yellowdart, I agree Wednesday Morning News There are lots of people at central office who work hard to make schools a better place. It's ignorant to act like just because someone is "downtown" that they are just expendable fat to be trimmed. I just have no idea who, what departments are cut. How come nobody seems to know?
Thu Jul 2, 2009 at 11:14 AMBy: some gems Wednesday Morning News My concern is that the cuts might wind up getting rid of some of the excellent people who do put children first and make sure the law is followed. I hope the gems aren't on the cut list.
